Sisterhood

The mission of Daughters of Israel, the Sisterhood of Congregation B’nai Israel, is to promote the welfare of the Jewish Community, at home and globally, through social, financial and benevolent activities.

We enhance our lives together – learning, laughing, exploring life, and trying to make a difference in our communities.

Daughters of Israel is for women of all age groups. The mix of diverse women enables long-term members to provide their knowledge and invaluable experience to newer members so that our Sisterhood continues to thrive. Newer and younger members bring fresh ideas and their own experiences to the organization, enabling us to keep our programming fresh, diverse, and interesting.

We have an active book club as well as inspirational speakers, concerts, cooking demonstrations, challah bakes, movies and nosh, game nights, and a lively daytime social group. A few recent examples of Daughters of Israel events include:

  • An annual Woman of Valor breakfast celebrating an Aishet Chayil in our sisterhood
  • Daughters of Israel Shabbat and Kiddush, “The Role of Women and Good vs. Evil Throughout Jewish History”
  • An afternoon of Israeli dancing
  • Wine, Women and Wisdom event and decorating Shabbat candlesticks trays
  • Sukkah decorating party with Pizza in the Hut
  • Trip to the Jewish Heritage Museum in neighboring Freehold

  • Youth Shabbatons
  • Welcome baskets for new Synagogue members
  • Playground equipment
  • Cabinetry for our boutique (come shop with us)
  • Bar and Bat Mitzvah gifts for the children of our synagogue
  • Appliances for the kitchen
  • Refurbishment of the Ladies Room
  • Office equipment, carpeting and cushioned chairs
